Is Temptation a Sin?

Temptation is not a sin. It’s simply the desire to do something that we know we shouldn’t do. We all experience temptation, but it’s important to understand that just because we are tempted, doesn’t mean that we have to give in to the temptation.

Recognize Temptation for What It Is

When we face temptation, it’s important to recognize it for what it is. Sometimes, the enemy will try to trick us into thinking that what he’s tempting us with isn’t bad. He’ll try to make it seem like it’s not a big deal or like everyone else is doing it. But if you know what the Bible says about temptation, then you’ll be able to see the deception for what it is and resist it.

Flee from Temptation

The best way to overcome temptation is to flee from it. If you’re tempted by something, remove yourself from the situation as quickly as possible. Sometimes that might mean walking away from the person or thing that is tempting you. Other times, it might mean changing the way you spend your time or who you spend your time with.
