Is Being Left-Handed A Sin? Find Out What The Bible Says

Is Being Left-Handed A Sin

Left-handedness is a trait that is found in about 10% of the population. Many people are curious to know if being left-handed is a sin, as it seems to be a deviation from the norm. In this blog post, we will take a look at what the Bible says about left-handedness. Let’s see if we can find an answer to the question: Is being left-handed a sin?

Is the right hand stronger than the left?

It’s interesting to note that the Bible has a lot to say about right-handedness. In Exodus 15:6, we’re told that God led his people with his right hand.

“Your right hand, O Lord, glorious in power, your right hand, O Lord, shatters the enemy.” Exodus 15:6 (ESV)

In Psalm 118:16, we see that the right hand is seen as a symbol of strength and power. The Lord has his right hand raised in triumph, and it is this hand that has done glorious things.

The strong right arm of the Lord is raised in triumph. The strong right arm of the Lord has done glorious things!” Psalm 118:16 (NLT)

And in Psalm 110:1, we see that the right hand is a position of honor and authority.

The Lord says to my lord: “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.” Psalm 110:1 (NIV)

So from these verses, it would be easy to think that the Bible views the right hand as being stronger than the left.

So why does the Bible focus so much on the right hand?

There are a few possible explanations. First, it could be simply a matter of practicality. The majority of people are right-handed, so it makes sense to focus on that group when giving instructions. Second, it could be symbolic of God’s power and might. By using his right hand, God is emphasizing his strength and authority.

Whatever the reason, it’s clear that the Bible has a lot to say about the importance of using our right hands. But don’t worry if you are left-handed – the Bible doesn’t single out left-handed people as sinners. There are several examples of left-handed people in the Bible who were used by God in mighty ways.

What does the Bible Say about Left-handedness

If you’re one of the estimated 10 percent of left-handed people, you might have been told at some point that it’s a weakness. But that’s not true! Being left-handed can be a strength.

Just look at Bible stories about left-handed people. In Judges 3:15-21, we read about a left-handed man named Ehud who was used by God to defeat the Moabites.

“Again the Israelites cried out to the Lord, and he gave them a deliverer—Ehud, a left-handed man, the son of Gera the Benjamite.” Judges 3:15 (NIV)

And in Judges 20:16, we see that the Israelites were victorious in battle because they had 700 very skillful left-handed men fighting for them.

“Among all these soldiers there were seven hundred select troops who were left-handed, each of whom could sling a stone at a hair and not miss.” Judges 20:16 (NIV)

Even in 1 Chronicles 12:2, we read that the tribe of Benjamin had 300 men who were skilled archers, equally adept with their right hand and their left.

“They were bowmen and could shoot arrows and sling stones with either the right or the left hand; they were Benjaminites, Saul’s kinsmen.” 1 Chronicles 12:2 (ESV)

Lefties have also been successful throughout history. Some of the world’s most famous people were lefties, including Julius Caesar, Leonardo da Vinci, Napoleon Bonaparte, and Winston Churchill. More recently, Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, and Barack Obama are among the many successful lefties.

So next time someone tells you that being left-handed is a weakness, just remember that you’re in good company—and that God can use your unique skills for His purposes!

Left-handed people are just as blessed by God as right-handed people

God doesn’t play favorites. He doesn’t love one group of people more than another. He doesn’t bless some people and not others. God loves all of His children equally, no matter what their circumstances may be.

That includes those who are left-handed. Lefties often get a bad rap. People say they’re unlucky, that they’re cursed. But that’s just not true. God made every one of us exactly the way He wanted us to be, and that includes being left-handed.

Left-handed people are just as blessed by God as right-handed people. They have their unique gifts and talents that God wants them to use for His glory. So don’t let anyone tell you that being left-handed is a curse. It’s not. It’s a blessing from God.
